The British Columbia Construction Roundtable (BCCR) is seeking five leaders from across the infrastructure and construction industry to join our Board of Directors. Having representation from different construction industry sectors is an important part of the BCCR to ensure that the Board represents the BCCR membership and provides a broad view of the industry.

Beyond credentials, we are looking for leaders who contribute to a culture that accelerates success — building meaningful relationships, fostering collaboration, and supporting best practices across the sector.

What We Value in Directors:

Directors must be BCCR members in good standing and committed to supporting our mission. Prior involvement with BCCR is an asset.

As BCCR’s role increasingly focuses on reducing friction in the system that delivers infrastructure projects, strong governance and thoughtful leadership matter more than ever.

The Emerging Leaders Group (ELG) Committee is searching for enthusiastic individuals to fill four vacancies on the committee. Having representation from different construction industry sectors is an important part of the ELG to ensure that the committee represents the BCCR membership and provides a broad view of the industry. 

Requirements: To be eligible to sit on the BCCR ELG Committee, the applicant must: 

1. Be (or are planning to be) a BCCR member.
2. Have 8+ years of experience within the industry (preferred).
3. Be able to commit 4-8 hours per month to the group for a minimum one-year period.
4. Have integrity, accountability and a focus on collaboration. 

The ELG Committee meets once a month from 12 – 1 PM on the third Wednesday of every month. All committee members are expected to attend. Click here to access the application form.

BCCR hosted and facilitated a roundtable conversation on May 15, 2024 to talk about Claims Avoidance and Dispute Resolution in Construction Projects. The facilitated roundtable discussions fostered cross-industry dialogue aimed at addressing six critical questions:

1. How prevalent is the use of active claims avoidance strategies in the construction industry based on your experience?
2. What are the common early warning signs that a project might face future claims and disputes?
3. Do you employ any specific strategies, processes, or technologies to track and manage claims as they arise?
4. How effective are dispute resolution clauses in preventing or mitigating claims?
5. What successful strategies have you observed for avoiding or mitigating claims on a project?
6. What is the most innovative approach you've encountered for avoiding or handling claims?

The British Columbia Construction Roundtable (BCCR) held a roundtable on January 25th, 2024, with 100 participants representing owners, consultants, contractors and suppliers from the Vancouver Construction Industry. We hope that the BCCR white paper has captured the essence of our collective input and offers insight and useful pointers into how to overcome obstacles in the construction industry's sustainability journey. BCCR hosted and facilitated great round table conversations on November 22, 2023 that opened dialogue between owners, consultants, general contractors, sub-contractors, material suppliers and others in the construction industry, on the challenges we are facing and how we can best work together to respond. The British Columbia Construction Roundtable (BCCR) is excited to announce the launch of its newest initiative, the Emerging Leaders Group (ELG). The ELG is intended to serve those at the intermediate stage in their careers.
