Surrey General Manager of Planning speaks at BC Construction Roundtable Annual General Meeting
Directors, members and guests of the British Columbia Construction Roundtable welcomed the General Manager of Planning and Development for Surrey, Jean Lamontagne, as the keynote speaker at their annual general meeting. Mr. Lamontagne spoke about
phase 2 of the Build Surrey program. This six-point plan focuses on fostering strong economic growth through capital investment,
strategic partnerships and streamlining approvals, and will reinforce Surrey's position as a premier investment location and leader in the sustainability sector.

BC Projects sweep top USA Awards
After winning the CEBC's 2009 Lieutenant Governor's Award, Award of Excellence and the Award of Merit respectively, the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement project and the Beacon Hill Station and Tunnels project have proceeded to win top state and national awards in the United States of America from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
The Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project won the 2010 Grand Honor Award from ACEC New Jersey Chapter and won one of eight 2010 national Grand Honor awards in Washington, D.C. in in late April.
The Beacon Hill Station and Tunnels project took top honours, the ACEC Platinum Award for Excellence in Enineering, for it deep tunneling design at the Washington State's ACEC 42nd annual Engineering Excellence awards ceremony earlier this year. The Beacon Hill Station and Tunnels also captured one of eight 2010 national Grand Honor awards at the ACEC National Gala sharing the podium with the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project Project. In addition to these two awards, the Beacon Hill Station and Tunnels project also won the 2010 Oustanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award (OCEA) in Washington, D.C, March 25th.

Millennium Water: SEFC is officially the "greenest, most energy efficient and sustainable neighbourhood on Earth." The Canadian Green Building Council announced the LEED Gold certification of all residential buildings on the Millennium Water site. In addition, the US Green Building Council awarded LEED Platinum ND to the community as a whole, one of the first two neighbourhoods in North America to ever attain this level of certification.
This esteemed certification reflects the dedication to sustainable community development that is found throughout the Millennium Water: SEFC community, and is a truly commendable achievement for all those who were a part of the planning, design and construction process.
