About the BCCR

What is the Construction Roundtable?

The British Columbia Construction Roundtable (Roundtable) is a British Columbia based non-profit organization, established in 1994 by senior members of the construction industry. As its name would suggest, the Roundtable began as a forum for sharing of experiences, ideas and knowledge.

Today the Roundtable members represent all sectors and interests of the construction industry and include engineers, architects, public and private owners in commercial and industrial sectors, large contractors, lawyers, financiers and major suppliers. The Roundtable supports the industry and its members by hosting regular breakfast meetings, tours and seminars on new and upcoming projects, business opportunities and current industry issues, attracting high profile, knowledgeable speakers. These meetings together with summer and winter social events allow the corporate decision-makers to proactively consider issues that might affect their organizations, to network, share experiences and explore ideas.

Who needs the Roundtable?

Anyone involved with the construction industry can benefit from membership in the Roundtable and attendance at our events. Most issues that confront the industry demand multi-faceted solutions. New management concepts, new procurement approaches, new technologies, new markets, and new projects are facts of life for the rapidly evolving construction industry.

You need to stay abreast of the changes. The Roundtable keeps you informed. It provides an excellent forum to meet with, talk to and listen to the movers and shakers, the up and comers, and other interesting people involved in construction in our province. Last year was our most successful year yet with more members and more people attending events than ever before.

Who can be a member?

Membership in the Roundtable is open to women and men working in all sectors of the construction industry, regardless of position or age.

Membership includes our breakfast seminars at no charge for either the member or a colleague. Each year we also offer seminars, tours and socials at special rates for members and guests.

Student Scholarships

In 2003 the membership of the BC Construction Roundtable established a scholarship program. Annually since 2004, one student from the BCIT Construction Management bachelor degree program, one from the carpentry program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and one from the graduate level of the Project and Construction Management program in Civil Engineering at UBC each receives a scholarship towards their studies. A criterion for this scholarship encourages students to be well rounded in their studies; consideration is also given to other experience they have in the construction industry.
