Welcome to the British Columbia Construction Rountable
The British Columbia Construction Roundtable is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide an independent forum for decision-makers of all sectors of the BC construction industry to share information, examine issues and collaborate on new or more effective strategies for the healthy growth of the industry. It is independent of all other construction groups.

March 31, 2010 Late in 2009, TransLink secured an additional $130 million of revenue annually that allowed them to maintain current service levels and meet the ongoing financial obligations made in previous years. The additional funding does not allow the expansion program needed to keep pace with population forecasts for Metro Vancouver or the sustainability objectives and goals for the region. But there is still a significant amount of work, both underway and being planned, to position TransLink for the expansion of services so desperately needed.
April 19, 2010 Dave Campbell from Geiger and a representative from PCL will talk about the design and challenges of the roof replacement at BC Place.

Celebrations continued this week at Glotman Simpson with the announcement of the 2009 Canadian Consulting Engineer Awards in Ottawa. The 41st annual awards are Canada's highest mark of recognition for projects by Canadian engineering firms, presented by the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies and Canadian Consulting Engineer Magazine. From 60 submissions, the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion project was awarded one of 10 Awards of Excellence. Only 4 of these awards were for 'Buildings', with no other B.C. project awarded in this category. Full details can be seen at www.canadianconsultingengineer.com.
This follows on from Glotman Simpson's win of The Grand CONNIE Award for Richmond Olympic Oval by BC Ready Mixed Concrete 2009 Awards for Excellence in Concrete Construction. The Oval was also presented the Special Applications, Technical Merit Award. These awards (nicknamed CONNIEs for "CONcrete CONstruction") are the BC industry's highest recognition of works that show vision and innovation in the use of concrete.
